Hi y’all! OMG, what just happened?! I’m not southern, but literally that was the first thing I thought to say! Anyway- Hello Everyone! My name is Caryn. I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist by day, and a wife, mother, and wine-lover by every other moment of the day (and sometimes during the day as well! Well, except for the wine part!). I have always been an over-sharer. If you know me, then you know everything about me. I find that connection on a personal level is what fuels me- it keeps me going. I love people and feel like I am incredibly lucky to have such wonderful ones around me.
I can remember thoughts about my weight as early as 1st grade. I don’t think I was particularly overweight, but I did think about being fat. So, as you can imagine, I have been up and down the weight roller-coaster. Man, I love roller-coasters, but not that one!
I have two little boys now, and with each passing year, I know I need to get serious about my weight so that I can continue to be able to do things with them. I have always been healthy, but my weight has just increased with each passing year. I kind of feel like I always used that as a cop-out, “I may be overweight, but I’m healthy!” Well, now my weight is causing me not do participate in everyday things, and that is not healthy.
I decided to blog about my Keto journey because I wanted to have something to keep me accountable. I found the Ketogenic way of eating on March 10, 2017. I was addicted to the Facebook Group KetogenicSuccess all weekend, learning about what Keto is and staring in amazement at the before and after pics that people posted. I was reeled in, and knew that this was for me. I talked to my husband about it (gosh, I love that guy!) and he was all-in, even though he doesn’t have much to lose. It was more about supporting me, which makes me melt inside with gooey thoughts about what a great partner and support he is!
Anyway, I want this site to be my checks-and-balances. I feel like the beginning will be the easiest part, but keeping it going after a year will be the hard part. So my first goal is to post weekly for a year. Then I will have a reward. I did the same thing in grade school- work hard and then reward yourself! That wonderful hubby and I are going on a big reward for our Ketoversary!
So, check back in and help to push and encourage me- I really want to feel better (and get that reward! Haha). My goal is to share my journey. I’m not a chef, a nutritionist, a doctor, or anything other than a woman who is on a mission and excited to share it with the world.
Peace, Love, and Keto On!
