Keto Week 11: Today Was A Good Day

Oh my gosh, you guys, I think I have a problem! I was trying to think of a title to tell about what a good week I’d had, and of course a rap lyric pops into my head. Nothing like a little Ice Cube to end a perfect day! That also reminds me that I wore my “All you need is love and gangsta rap” shirt to the zoo today. Hahaha I need help. But moving on…

Here’s a recap from last week, Week 10:

Pounds lost: (gained, but hadn’t weighed myself out of dread of being off plan for a month)
Total pounds lost: At that point it was 27.8, though the day before I started my downward spiral I was .4 lbs away from -30.

It’s been hard the last few weeks because I feel like my stomach is just huge again. It feels like it’s solid and out to there (imagine me sticking my arm out like I’m pregnant). I did call it my carb baby earlier. Wow, and it just took me 5 tries to type earlier spelled correctly. How does that happen?!

How this week felt:

This week was really interesting. I didn’t track a thing! I just ate Keto only foods and tried to generally keep my carbs as close as I could based on my memory of foods from when I was tracking. I also felt very hungry this week. I read an article that said that some people experience a significant amount of hunger when they are first transitioning to low carb high fat diets. They said it was something about the chemical responses in your brain calling out for more when it feels like it’s being starved of the thing it wants (like when someone is in withdrawal from a drug addiction, though I’m not trying to be insensitive because I know that the seriousness and circumstances are completely different). So really, I just ate when I wanted to and what I wanted to.

Interestingly, I have been so unmotivated to cook this week. That is so strange for me because I love to cook and now that I’m home for summer break, I think that I should be a regular Julia Child in the kitchen. But alas, I’ve been eating weird tid-bits of things here and there. It didn’t help that we got back from vacation with nothing in the fridge and I had to get groceries before I really made a plan for what we’d eat that week. Maybe I just needed one more week of not having to think about it really. Gosh, adulting is hard! The only thing I cooked was these “Keto Crackers” as we have lovingly nick-named them in my house. I’ve made 4 batches now. Hey, the kids eat them too…

Recipe Of The Week:

Well duh.

The Low Carb Cheese Crackers win. And now I’m going to shut up about them!

I’m going to leave you with this picture of Bald Eagles. Why? I went to the zoo today. Also because it’s almost the 4th of July. ‘Merica.

I couldn’t help busting out laughing at Ice Cube at the top of the post. Instantly put me in a great mood. Glad your day was good, mine is going great too!

There will be weeks like this when you don’t feel like cooking at all, but if you persist you will do fine!

Hahaha that was funny. I know the days when you can’t spell a word on a first try 😀 However, yes you are right, our brains are addicted to carbs and they are worried you are starving if you don’t have as much carbs as you previously did. I always try to eat more healthy fats and that helps perfectly. Or I make myself a tea 🙂 (with no sugar or any other sweetener there though). You can do it! 🙂

Thank you! Yes, healthy fats are a must! I’m really into avocados right now! And MCT oil in my coffee is my new jam!
